Weekend Wine Flight and Dinner

This Friday and Saturday we will be featuring Cabernet Sauvignon. The most popular of red wine grapes in the U.S. today, Cabernet has enjoyed a long reign at the top.  The classic red wine grape of Bordeaux has found a true home in California’s Napa, Sonoma and Alexander Valleys and, more recently, in the Columbia River Valley area of eastern Washington.  The soil and climate of these areas have proven to be ideally suited for Cabernet Sauvignon.

Whether on its own or in a blend with other compatible grapes, Cabernet is capable of satisfying a wide range of tastes.  When made from physiologically ripe fruit, Cabernet’s aromas and flavors show hints of Berry, Cassis, and Cherry fruit along with notes of spice, sweet tobacco, herbs, mint, and pepper.  Some tasters detect floral notes such as Rose and Violets.   The styles range from simple and one dimensional, to wines of extraordinary complexity and depth of flavor.

The range of price is broad.  From as low as $2.00 to well over $200. per bottle for the most sought after examples.  Fortunately, there is something of value for every budget.

This weekend we will be focusing on well made, delicious, and AFFORDABLE wines from the Napa, Sonoma, and Columbia Valley areas.   Pat’s Specials will include Grilled Ribeye with Gorgonzola Walnut Butter;  Pumpkin Ravioli with Sage brown Butter; and Seared Fresh Tuna With Lavender.  Sounds Delicious to me!

We look forward to seeing you here,

Randy
